Varya Yakovleva est une artiste russe en exil, basée en France. Illustratrice et réalisatrice d’animation, elle est diplômée de la faculté d’art de l’université d’État russe de cinématographie et de la faculté des réalisateurs d’animation School-Studio Shar. Elle a réalisé les courts métrages Oneluv (2022), Life is a bitch (2021), Oscar Long Short List 2022, Anna, cat and mouse (2020), The Square (2016). Elle a remporté trois prix nationaux d’animation et ses films ont été sélectionnés et primés lors de festivals internationaux d’animation, de cinéma et d’illustration. Elle a travaillé en tant qu’illustratrice et directrice artistique de l’animation sur le film du réalisateur A. Khrzhanovsky, Le Nez, ou la conspiration des non-conformistes, adapté de la nouvelle de Nikolai Gogol, produit par School-Studio Shar (Russie) et qui a reçu le prix du jury au Festival d’Annecy 2020. Son travail a fait l’objet de sept expositions personnelles en Russie, Norvège, Finlande, et Chypre et a participé à plus de cinquante expositions collectives en Russie, France, Italie, République Tchèque, Croatie, Emirats Arabes Unis. En résidence, elle développe le court-métrage Guilty Girl, produit par Etienne de Ricaud. © Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image
