Le jeune acteur de Sarugaku de la Compagnie Kanze, Oniyasha, réside dans le palais du fier shogun Ashihaga Yoshimitsu. Ce dernier recherche « une fleur forte » afin de consolider son pouvoir avec l’art. Il met alors au défi Oniyasha et son rival, l’ambitieux Zôjiro, acteur de Dengaku de la compagnie Shinza, d’interpréter la danse du lion. Cette compétition creuse le fossé entre les deux prodiges. N’entendant pas abandonner, Oniyaha choisit de relever le défi malgré les humiliations de son adversaire !

Dans ce troisième tome du seinen contemplatif et didactique The World is dancing, Kazuto Mihara montre l’évolution physique et mentale d’Oniyasha devant faire face aux moqueries ainsi qu’aux injustices vécues par le jeune Kogane et le moine Toku tous deux ostracisés. Cependant, le jeune acteur, qui sera plus connu sous le nom de Zeami, peut compter sur l’aide et les conseils d’Hijiri, serviteur étranger du shogun, ainsi que de l’homme mystérieux, Inûo le roi des chiens, qui lui recommande d’être attentif à la vibration pour nourrir son jeu d’acteur. Oniyasha expérimente ainsi de nouvelles techniques qui charment les connaisseurs à défaut du public. Le mangaka évoque aussi dans ce tome l’époque Muromachi à travers les origines de la danse du lion, le procès à l’eau bouillante, le saké de bambou, le thé, les insultes, les luttes entre le nord et le sud. Le trait se veut tendre quand il croque les personnages et minutieux lorsqu’il représente les vêtements et les animaux (chat, souris, lion). À la fin du seinen se trouvent deux chroniques documentaires : Zeami dans les documents historiques et Le Voyage vers Zeami.
Un seinen instructif et doux sur l’histoire du créateur du théâtre classique japonais Nô !
